ABOUT:
Dominic A. Sisti, PhD, is director of the Scattergood Program for the Applied Ethics of Behavioral Health. His current research examines the ethical and philosophical dimensions of the concept of mental disorder, with a particular focus on personality disorders. Sisti has written, taught, and presented papers on issues related to end of life care, the philosophy of psychiatry, and research ethics. He is a co-editor of two books with Arthur Caplan and James McCartney: Health, Disease, and Illness: Concepts in Medicine (Georgetown University Press, 2004), and The Case of Terri Schiavo: Ethics at the End of Life (Prometheus Books, 2006). Sisti previously served as a clinical ethicist at Holy Redeemer Health System and was a research associate at the Center, where he continues to manage the High School Bioethics Project. He received his PhD from Michigan State University in philosophy with a specialization in the philosophy and ethics of health care. Dominic also earned a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania (2000) and is a graduate of Villanova University where he earned a B.S. in biology (1996).
