Utilizing broadcast-quality equipment that is operated remotely by experienced broadcast professionals in one of four cities on the eastern seaboard, the ReadyCam studio at Penn - the first uplink of its kind in the entire Ivy League - provides an in-house portal through which experts from the University of Pennsylvania can communicate with media outlets all over the world while maximizing the exposure of Penn in their media appearances.

It is important to note that we have brought interview opportunities that might have gone to other schools with closer uplinks to Penn. Major television networks know they can get Penn faculty at a moment's notice. Our ReadyCam is equipped to broadcast live or to provide live appearances for pre-taped network broadcasts. The simple fact is that our facility will continue to increase the exposure of Penn while making media a more integrated part of scholarly life for young and senior scholars - making the job of PR both more effective and more fluid.

In a live interview, we deliver your media in a variety of formats and sizes. Unlike anyone else in Philadelphia, we provide digital media format of your interview using the industry's leading encoders to produce QuickTime, Windows Media 9 and Real Media videos for web streaming. Also, at your request, each media can be uploaded into our QuickTime media streaming server and viewed from anywhere in the world. All streaming media can be archived up to 60 days for your continued use. Each interview is received via digital satellite (in most cases) and recorded onto a DV media for maximum quality and flexibility.

COST
There is a nominal fee of $400 per month to use the facility. This monthly fee includes continued unlimited access to the uplink facilities, including talent support, scheduling, and web-streaming of broadcast segments. We request that any use of the studio outside the weekday hours of 8AM - 6PM be scheduled 48 hours in advance.

For Non-Client and other Usage
For non-broadcast usage, there is a usage fee of $100 per hour (reservation is made in one hour block). For other schools that have not enrolled to use our facility, there is a $100 per hour charge to use this facility (this does not include fiber line fee).
